Georgia Basketball Coaches Association - Awards
Wooden Legacy Award
Each year the John Wooden Foundation and the National High School Basketball Coaches Association (NHSBCA) partner with state associations to present the Wooden Legacy Award to one male and one female high school basketball coach from each state.
Recipients must be an accomplished basketball coach who also served as an outstanding educator. Their excellence on the court, in the classroom, and in the community must embody the characteristics of John Wooden - Excellence, Longevity, Character, Leadership and Service.
GBCA Coach of the Year
Recipients include current GBCA member head coaches whose teams have:
- Met or exceeded preseason and season expectations
- Met significant season milestones
- Conducted themselves with dedication, competitiveness, respect and love for the game
GBCA Assistant Coach of the Year
Recipients include current GBCA member coaches who:
- Are current assistant coaches (regardless of level)
- Show great promise in the profession
- Conducted themselves with dedication, competitiveness, respect and love for the game
GBCA Rising Coach of the Year
Recipients include current GBCA member head coaches who:
- Are in the first 5 years of their head coaching career
- Show great promise in the profession
- Conducted themselves with dedication, competitiveness, respect and love for the game
